Ground Turning Ceremony Held for Landmark Gate1 Project

04-Dec-2007

On Tuesday, 4 December 2007 a ground turning ceremony was held on site at Gate1, located on Horrie Miller Drive near the Perth International Airport.

Gate1 is an exciting campus style office and retail development being developed by Marchmont in partnership with Westralia Airports Corporation. Pindan is building Gate1.

Once complete, Gate1 will include 3,000sqm of retail space and up to 6,000sqm of office space. Naming rights will be available for a major tenant with exposure to Horrie Miller Drive and the retail is suitable for a supermarket or super deli, newsagency, pharmacy, cafes and restaurants, fast food restaurants, hairdresser, florist and other similar tenants.

Gate1 will include five buildings in total plus parking. All buildings with the exception of the 4 storey office building will be built in Stage 1.

Gate1 will have a contemporary urban flavour with a 4.5 star green building rating.

Ben Dudley, Marchmont Director, notes campus style office and retail developments are one of the fastest growing trends in the Australian property market.

‘Marchmont identified the Gate1 site as the ideal location for a retail and office development that has the benefit of being close to the CBD and major arterial roads, but doesn’t charge tenants the high rents they will incur being in the centre of the city,’ he said.

‘Put simply, Gate1 is a convenient location with all the amenity just without the price,’ Mr Dudley continued.

Glen Zampatti, Marchmont Director, said he was excited to see works commence on site.

‘Gate1 is an exciting and innovative project that will set a new standard for Perth. Similar developments have proven highly successful over east and it is great that people will now have the opportunity to see our buildings take shape,’ said Mr Zampatti.

Stage 1 is anticipated to be complete in September 2008 with construction of Stage 2 expected to commence in May 2008.

Nearby blue chip tenants include the Woolworths Regional Distribution Centre, Coles Myer Ltd and SembCorp Logistics. Other new or prospective tenants to the surrounding area include Atlas Copco, Western Power, Cummins, Australia Post, Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, DHL and DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and Exel (Logistics Australia Pty Ltd).
